OUR SAY: Take it easy on the beach

I JUST had an awesome weekend on the beach at Rainbow.

The weather, Mudlo Rocks and the tides were magic, making it the perfect opportunity to head up the beach in the 4WD to check out Double Island Pt.

I was not alone.

I think every other person had the same idea.

Never have I seen so many 4WDs at Double Island.

The disappointing thing for me was there were a few idiots out trying to spoil the fun for everyone.

People doing non-stop doughnuts in the sand and trying to drive up sand dunes.

Don't get me wrong; there was only one or two behaving in this manner out of many thousands but it still really irks me.

Believe it or not there are some in our community, especially south of Gympie, who would like to see 4WDs banned on the beach.

Drivers who carry on like fools on the sand, driving over dunes and leaving litter everywhere give these people plenty of ammunition and put the great adventure and tradition of driving up the beach in jeopardy.
