System failure at our hospital
ONE has to ask how on earth the "system" was allowed to so badly fail a critically injured little boy here in Gympie earlier this month.
What happened to him - being turned away from the Gympie hospital emergency department by apparently young, inexperienced doctors after a too-short examination - sends a shiver down my spine as a parent.
In this day and age we have every right to expect more. The entire Wolvi community is utterly outraged and so should we all be.
This little bloke almost bled to death.
Surely there are safeguards in place, procedures and protocols that prevent such hideous mistakes. And if they are not in place, why not?
Queensland Health is brimming with wonderful, caring, talented people, and to err is human.
But this is just not good enough.
