Swans coach wants to see ruthless streak
AFL: Sydney coach John Longmire is hoping his side can finally find its ruthless edge against Brisbane this weekend.
Anchored to the bottom of the ladder as the only team left without a win, the Swans will host the visiting Lions at the SCG.
"It's not so much searching for answers," Longmire said. "We know we're not playing trademark football, that ruthless hard edge, so we know what the problem is.
"Our group have been able to deliver for a long time and I'm confident that we can get up and deliver again.
"But there is a time when we need to actually go out on the ground and display the sort of football that we know we can. We've said that before and we haven't delivered."
Sydney is now 0-6 having lost to an inexperienced Carlton last week.
"Obviously it's a bit more pointed as a coach, I understand that, everyone understands that," Longmire said.
"But we've enjoyed some fantastic times at this football club as a collective and we'll work through the tough times and the challenging times as a collective. That's what good clubs do."
Former co-captain Jarrad McVeigh (calf/hamstring) trained well yesterday but will need to get through another session tomorrow to be considered for his first game of the year on Sunday.
Gary Rohan, however, has been ruled out after a horror fall against Carlton.
"He's in pretty good spirits and most importantly there's nothing seriously wrong with him, so he misses a game of footy but that's pretty small in the bigger scheme of things," Longmire said.
