Man arriving from Canada arrested over violent home invasion

A MAN wanted over an alleged home invasion at Wooli last year, has been arrested by Australian Federal Police at Sydney Airport after arriving on a flight from Canada.

The 26-year-old was handed over to NSW Police and taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged by virtue of an outstanding arrest warrant for the offence of robbery in company while armed with a dangerous weapon.

The man had been identified by Coffs Clarence detectives as a suspect in the home invasion, which allegedly saw a 37-year-old man viciously bashed inside his Wooli home last year.

Police allege four men armed with a gun, a stun gun/taser and a baton forced entry into the premises on Monday, October 13.

The alleged offence happened in front of a toddler and the man's partner.

Previously, Coffs Clarence detectives charged a Bonville man, 41, with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possess property suspected of being stolen, possess shortened firearm, possess unregistered firearm and have custody of a knife.

His case remains before the courts, while the 26-year-old is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

The investigation run by Strike Force Nanowie continues into the alleged home invasion.
