Coast man on fraud charges over SE Qld investments

SUNSHINE Coast detectives have charged a man after an investigation into alleged fraudulent transactions across south-east Queensland.

Police allege that between 2008 and this year, a 40-year-old Parreara man set up a number of fraudulent transactions in which he enticed victims to invest money with him.

Some of the alleged fraudulent transactions involved victims handing over money for what they believed to be for the purchase or trade in of a motor vehicle.

Police allege the man has fraudulently claimed around $140,000 from victims on the Sunshine Coast and on Brisbane's northside.

The man has been charged with six counts of fraud and one count each of attempted fraud and obstructing police.

He has been remanded in custody to reappear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 21.
