A Sunrise reporter was subject to a bizarre attack from a protester dressed as a zombie from the Extinction Rebellion climate change protest group.

Queensland correspondent Bianca Stone was approached from behind by the protester who grabbed, jostled and 'gnawed' at her arm during a live cross.

Stone was covering the group's attention-grabbing protest outside Parliament House, for which the protesters dressed up as zombies.

"What these guys are trying to show is that they're the zombies of the future coming back to warn the politicians about this climate change crisis," Stone said, over constant zombie moans.

"They're calling for urgent action on climate change. This is the Extinction Rebellion group.

We've seen so much of them in the past they are saying that more action will be taken here there is another march planned for March.

"This will be a peaceful protest except for this zombie that is gnawing my arm right now."

"You don't want to interview the zombie Bianca?" asked Sunrise host Natalie Barr.

"Can we get a quote?" Mark Beretta added from the studio.

"I did my job," said the zombie. "Climate change, whatever."

"Thanks, we'll move on shall we? That was so weird," Barr said.

Extinction Rebellion said in a statement that its Brisbane protesters chased politicians around gates to block and disrupt their personal and car entry to the building and swamped them with "climate zombies" as they went past.

"What a gruesome action this morning Zombie's [sic] and mortals!" they wrote last night.

"Every state MP at the first day of parliament for 2021 has been given fair warning of the future they are driving us toward and what we plan to do to stop it!

"Well done to everyone who showed up to help reclaim our future from the corporate and fossil-fuelled parliament and listen to the Zombie's [sic] from the future - come back to warn us should we do nothing and leave our hands in the fate of a corrupt system ….

"Zombies breached Parliament House gate a number of times before being removed by police and security. Zombies and people took to the road despite police direction not allowing them and threatening to arrest people.

"Police were seen pointing at one person saying, 'Just grab one of them.' Despite that, people occupied the intersection of Alice and George St outside Queensland parliament for a Zombie-ApoCOALypse-warning style Thriller dance!

"The disruption continued, when at 11am, parliamentary cleaners were seen washing brains and rotting flesh of zombies left behind."
