Summer ends with a bang
SUMMER is over, though you wouldn't know it.
The first day of autumn has snuck up on us once again and should be warm and possibly wet, with maximums of about 29-30 degrees expected for the next week; slightly cooler than the last week of summer, which averaged hot and humid days of up to 35 degrees (on Friday).
Indeed, summer left with a bang, turning it on for almost perfect weekend weather and sending thousands to the beach to take their chances in the rough conditions and big swells.
The Cooloola Coast was inundated with visitors as Cyclone Winston left beaches on the Sunshine and Gold Coast closed on Saturday.
