String of dog attacks has Gympie residents fed up

A STRING of dog attacks over the past few weeks has ignited online calls for dog owners to take more responsibility of their pets.

After the shocking death of a Monkland family's kitten last month, snatched by a pair of roaming dogs from a child's arms before being mauled, more incidents have come to light.

An inner-city resident approached The Gympie Times on Monday frustrated with roaming dogs after his two egg-laying hens were killed at night over the weekend.

Since then, there have been reports online of a small pet dog being attacked through a fence out near Glastonbury and a number of geese mauled at The Palms.

Is there a problem with dog owners taking responsibility of their animals and have you been affected?

What do you think needs to happen to curb this problem?
