Storms on the way

THE Bureau of Meteorology is predicting severe storms and cyclones are likely to impact Queensland this storm season.

Earlier this year hundreds of businesses were impacted by storms and flooding, and operators learned a lot about how they could have been better prepared, unfortunately only after the event happened.

The Queensland Government is offering a free one-hour “webinar” on Wednesday from 7.30pm, which will outline how businesses can prepare.

“This program will help businesses in the Gympie region identify potential environmental crises by assessing and evaluating the potential impact and putting in place continuity strategies,” Gympie Mayor Ron Dyne said.

The Gympie Central Business District Flood Sub Plan is currently being updated, but it is not designed to replace businesses own flood evacuation plans. For more information visit www.business.qld.gov.au or phone 1300 363 711.
