Storm watch for pets

EMERGENCY Management Queensland is urging all households to ensure pets are looked after this storm season.

“It’s important to include your pets in any household evacuation plans by highlighting potential safe houses to shelter your pets until any danger has passed,” EMQ Regional Director for North Coast Region Peter Twomey said.

“If keeping pets outside during a severe storm, ensure they have access to sheltered, contained areas.

“Residents can also bring their pets inside, as many pets have instincts about dangerous conditions and may run away if frightened. Remember, after a severe weather event, animals can be disoriented or aggressive.”
