Storm drenches city, hail reported

HEAVY rain and reports of hail had Gympie car owners dashing to park their vehicles under cover yesterday afternoon as a storm cell doused the CBD.

While there were reports of hail near Carlton Hill and Gympie experienced some 15 minutes of heavy rainfall about 5pm yesterday, Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach were still enjoying pleasant weather.

South Side SES group leader Craig Miller told The Gympie Times minutes after the downpour he had received a few inquiries about weather forecasts but no call-outs; however he said he expected more storms last night.
