Turning heads at 70

SWIMWEAR fashion spanning 70 years was the star of the show at Coolangatta's Komune Resort as part of a new surf festival.

The Sway on Sunset fashion parade was run as part of the inaugural Bleach Surfing the Fringe festival.

The parade featured swimwear dating back to the 1940s and extending up to a sneak-peak of Billabong's 2012 range, presented as a "three part journey into the history of the bikini".

Bleach artistic director Louise Bezzina said the night went off without a hitch.

"When it comes to the way I envisioned it, it's totally exceeded my expectations," she said.

"There were no hiccups, tonight was at capacity - they were turning people away - it's just fantastic.

"Everyone's been telling me how amazing, how great it is."
