Steel puts cash into prize draw

GYMPIE sporting clubs have a shot at winning $1000 in a random prize draw, thanks to Bevan Steel of Steely’s Windscreens.

Steel and three of his colleagues entered the Harlequins Cricket Club’s fundraising darts competition last month and won.

Joining Steel in victory were Ken ‘Dickieknee’ Worling, Larry ‘Led Balls’ Millers and Gavin ‘Garbbo’ Creed.

Bagging a $200 pub voucher to help fuel celebrations, the trio also won the opportunity to donate $1000 to a sporting club or charity of their choice.

Steel said he didn’t want to choose a club. Instead he is offering the prize in a random draw and encouraging local clubs to put their hands up to be in the running.

Gympie sporting clubs eager for a chance at winning the money need only send in a contact name and number on club letterhead to: ‘Steely’s Windscreens Sport Club Giveaway’, The Gympie Times, PO Box 394.

Submissions will be accepted for the next three weeks, after which a winner will be selected and presented the $1000 cheque.

The Harlequins darts competition was organised by player Danny Shepperson as a new way for the club to bolster its funds for the new season.
