YEPPOON'S Nicola Davison reckons life is far more flexible for those who work from home.
Mrs Davison, who is the print editor of The Gladstone Observer, has been working from home for two years and highly recommends it.
"I've worked in one-man reporting offices and in newsrooms with large staff. So I've worked in both. I find I'm quite able to do my job from home. Some ways it's more productive, with fewer interruptions."
But this is not the case for everyone. The CEO of Yahoo has just banned employees from working at home.
Marissa Mayer told staff they must work in the office and if they can't, then they should quit. The 37-year-old has lead by example and even had a nursery built in her office to care for her six-month-old son.
Mrs Davison, who is pregnant, doesn't quite agree.
"There are studies that have been done that show people who work at home, are more productive, and are more satisfied. I would recommend it to people, even for just one day a week.
"Bosses have kids and sometimes they work from home."

The Yeppoon resident said it has to be the right personality, because it doesn't suit everybody.
"Working at home might not be for a new employee, you would have to see what their work ethic is like, and productivity.
"You have to be contactable, encourage people to call and email you and you have to do the same.
"I use Skype as well as Google Chat."
