Start thinking Policelink...

GYMPIE residents are being asked to Think Policelink and call 131 444 to report non-urgent policing matters and save Triple Zero (000) for emergencies.

Police Minister Neil Roberts and Acting Police Commissioner Ian Stewart have officially launched the “Think Policelink. Call 131 444” social marketing campaign – a first for the Queensland Police Service. Mr Roberts said the new campaign was designed to educate Queenslanders about what to report through Policelink and when to call Triple. “If the crime is not happening now, is not life threatening or there is little likelihood of the suspected offenders still being in the area, Queenslanders can consider phoning Policelink on 131 444 for non-urgent assistance,” he said. It is estimated Policelink will handle up to two million calls a year and free up 260,000 police hours – equivalent to more than 130 full time officers and it is expected the number of non-urgent calls made to Police Communication Centres through Triple Zero (000) will be reduced by 30 per cent.
