Timber truck blocks traffic

A FULLY-loaded truck carrying a double timber jinker blocked traffic on the corner of Crescent and Cootharaba roads yesterday.

The Sunchip Transport truck was carrying logs from Tuan forestry to Ipswich when it stalled about 9am yesterday morning.

Truck driver Billy McPhail looked a little uncomfortable sitting in the cab for about half an hour waiting for a support crew to fix the problem, while police directed traffic through the intersection.

He said he stalled the motor during a gear change and was unable to start it again because of a flat battery.

Officers thanked motorists for their patience.
