Mary Valley Stags fight off Kilcoy at home

RUGBY LEAGUE: The Mary Valley Stags were raring and ready to play the Kilcoy Yowies at Kandanga, for their first home game for the season.

At full-time the Stags came out on top with an 18-10 win against the Kilcoy Yowies.

Publicity officer Jenny Carlson said after a delayed start due to lack of lighting, the Stags were off and racing, scoring under the post minutes into the game.

The tussle continued back and forth as the Yowies continued to fight back, making for a tough game.

The Stags training and set movement practice clearly paid off as seen in the final score, Carlson said.

Try scorers for the Mary Valley Stags were Jittaret Sukhantharpree, Henry Maudsley and Josh Ryan, with Troy Carlson converting three goals.

The players' player was Henry Maudsley, breaking the line on many occasions.

Saturday's game will be against Beerwah at Beachmere from 1pm.

Carlson said the club will be organising a bus to go down so check travel details at training or on Facebook.

"Beerwah are currently in fourth position on the ladder so we can expect a tough game."

Training is every Tuesday at the Amamoor Hall and Thursdays from 6pm at Kandanga Oval.
