Tin Can Bay Golf Club

THE Vets held their 3rd Monthly Medal on Tuesday with 90 starters.

Division 1 winner was Chris Eyre with 66 nett from John Gordon 67 and Ian Brown 70 c/b. Division 2 was won by Brian Burton 67 nett on a countback from Rob Gray 67 and David Williams 68.

Danny Kay won division 3 with 70 nett from Bob Huckle 71 and Marty Avotins also 71.

The ball rundown went to 75 c/b.

Pinshots were as follows: 5th Bob Cunningham and Bruce Kunde, 9th Barry Hudson, 13th Ian Brown and Danny Kay, 3/8th Rob Grambower and Brian Burton.

On Wednesday, the ladies opened the season with a 2 Ball Ambrose draw/Shotgun start sponsored by June Blanch and June Kapernick. Julie Mulhall and Ngaire Wallis won with 65 nett from Di Neill and Marilyn Richards 67 ¾.

The ball rundown went to 76 ¾.

Pinshots were as follows: 2/7th Shirley Schaper and Carol Avotins, 2/9th Julie Mulhall and Ngaire Wallis, 2/11th Annette Hempenstall and Lyn Wong, 3/16th Lyn Groombridge and Sharon Dearman.

Thursday's 9hole competition was won by Nev Anderson with 34 ½ nett from Jeff Martinsen 34 ½ and Mark Ryan also with 34 ¼.

The voucher rundown went to 36 c/b.

William Morriss won the putting with 11 c/b. The ball rundown went to 37 ½. Bob Staer won the pinshot on 11th and Ray Harris and G Williams won the 13th.

Friday's 9hole competition was won by Jon McCarthy with 31 ½ on a countback from R Jordison.

Voucher rundown went to 33 and club voucher rundown went to 34 ½.

Gloria Shephard won the ladies' pinshot on 9 and Jon McCarthy won the 5th.

A 4Ball Agg Stroke was played on Saturday with 88 in the field.

The winners were Gary Parker and Rob Gray with 139 nett from Alan Malon and Julian Godfrey 142, Nev Anderson and Neil Low 143, John and Helen Gordon 147, Jenny Mayne and Lyn Wong also with 147.

The rundown went to 150. Pinshots were as follows: 5th Gordon Smith and Anna Docking, 7th Graham Farrell, 9th Michael Johnson and Julie Mulhall, 11th Nev Anderson, 13th Alan Docking and Janet Reibel, 3/18th Chris Lovell. Sunday's event was a Single Stableford with 28 men and 18 ladies in the field.

Shane Anderson won the men's division with 42 points from Ian Brown 39.

The ball rundown went to 34.

Laurel Edwards won the Ladies' division with 38 points from Pam Gifford 36.

The ball rundown went to 31.

Pinshots were as follows: 5th Ian Brown and Di Oxton, 7th Laurie Raeburn and Gwen Reed, 9th Rod Reed and Julie Mulhall, 11th Bill Blackshaw, 13th Ken Brewer and Viv Brown.

Gympie Queens Park Tennis

SOCIAL tennis at Queens Park at the corner of Jane St and the Bruce Hwy is available to members and interested people three times a week, weather permitting.

It starts from 5.30pm on Thursdays and Mondays and on Saturdays at 6.30am.

The membership fee for 2018 is $100 and is overdue.

Membership allows cheaper social tennis and cheaper night hire as well as free court use during the day.

This can be paid in person to Jenny, placed in the envelope with your nightly fee or transferred directly to our account, ask for details.

Please ensure you complete a membership form as well. Entry forms for the Gympie Gold City Seniors Tournament, to be held in Gympie from March 16 to 18 are available.

This is a great tournament attracting participants from throughout Queensland. Locals are very welcome to enter.

Gympie & District Hockey Association

THE club annual sign-on event will be tomorrow 5-7pm and Saturday, February 17 10am-2pm.

All hockey clubs will be in attendance and attendees will be able to have a chat with officials to find out more about the sport.

Saturday will also be a free come and try day, with all equipment supplied.

A barbecue will be operating and Just Hockey will be there, so you can pick up all your hockey equipment.

This will be a chance to meet current players, families and clubs, to try hockey and pick a club for the season.

Hockey is a sport for the entire family, from very young to the not so very young. Gympie & District Hockey Association welcomes all new and old to the season.

THIS Saturday, February 17 and Monday, February 20 will be the club's second sign-on days as the club aims to match last year's membership of 400.

Saturday's sign-on will start at 9am and run through until 11am and Monday will be 4-7pm.
