Sponsorship boost for Gympie AFL club

HELPING the Gympie Cats AFL Club claw its way back from January's devastating Australia Day long weekend flood is the generous sponsorship flowing in from the Gympie business community.

Already locking in sponsorship for the season ahead are Sign-a-Rama and Bendigo Bank.

Sign-a-Rama's Justin Brown and Bendigo Bank's Elaine Thompson and Rens Poels joined Gympie AFL club official Brett Hall at the Six Mile Oval yesterday for the unveiling of new signage.

Brown, also an active member of the Gympie Cats and sponsorship co-ordinator, said the assistance was more than a handout.

"We want to thank our sponsors," he said. "The sponsorship is a partnership and we want our sponsors to be actively involved."

January's flooding hit the Gympie Cats hard, with floodwaters rising right to the roof of the club house. The clean up is still continuing.

"Our sponsors help to make it easy to put on a good season for our members," Brown said.

Joining Sign-a-Rama and Bendigo Bank in the sponsorship stakes are Decks on Mary and Pacific Hyundai.

Brown gave special mention to Bendigo Bank as platinum sponsors, locking in for the next two seasons.

Thompson said she was pleased Bendigo Bank was on board and urged Gympie residents to show their support so they could invest more in local community groups.

Sponsorship packages start from $375 and interested businesses are urged to contact Justin Brown on 0411 709 771.
