P-plater drove 40kmh over limit

GYMPIE District Traffic Branch ran a lidar course this week which means there are 13 more operators out and about catching motorists who speed.

Officer in charge Senior Constable Chris Watson said a P-plate driver was clocked doing 103kmh in the 60kmh zone of the Bruce Highway near Gympie Feed Barn on Wednesday at about 7pm.

He was disqualified from driving for six months, fined $933 and docked eight points.

Earlier that day, another local driver was fined $466 for doing 120kmh in an 80kmh section of Eel Creek Road.
