Softball season starts

A LITTLE over a month ago softball mum Maree Ball wanted to assess the level of interest in launching the sport in Gympie again after a long absence.

She was hopeful of a positive response but admitted to being overwhelmed with the interest.

“I’ve had so many calls,” she said. “It’s fantastic.”

Bull is full of anticipation ahead of the start of a new six-week season next Monday afternoon at the Six Mile Ovals.

All players are asked to turn up at 5.30pm to complete the registration.

Bull said there was a lot to accomplish in the next few weeks.

“We need to sort out teams, elect a committee and really ease our way into the new season,” she said.

“Everyone is just so eager to get out on the field and play.”

The cost for the season is $60 and new players still have time to get involved.

“Anyone who still wants to play but didn’t attend our come and try day last weekend can still play,” she said.

“Just turn up next Monday afternoon and get involved.”
