UPDATE: Young boy bitten by snake

UPDATE: The young boy bitten by a venomous snake yesterday is expected to be discharged from hospital today.

The eigh-year-old was bitten on the arm by a snake at his Greenfields home, just outside of Stanthorpe.

He was rushed to Stanthorpe Hospital before being taken to the Toowoomba Base for further treatment.

According to a Darling Downs Hospital and Health Services spokeswoman, the boy spent last night in the hospital's paediatric ward.

"He is stable and likely to be discharged today," she said.

YESTERDAY: A STANTHORPE boy is in a stable condition after being bitten by a snake.

The eight-year-old boy was taken to Stanthorpe Hospital after suffering a bite to his arm.

The boy was bitten at his Texas Rd home, at Greenlands.

A Darling Downs Hospital and Health Services spokeswoman confirmed that as of 4.30pm the boy was still at Stanthorpe Hospital.

"He is stable, and he's awaiting transfer to another hospital," she said.
