Six fire crews remain on scene at fire near Camp Kerr
SIX rural fire crews remain on scene at a vegetation fire burning north of Camp Kerr, near Tin Can Bay. The fire is now contained and RFSQ crews will continue to monitor Thursday afternoon and Friday.
The fire is still issuing large amounts of smoke, but is expected to continue to burn within containment lines.
There is no threat to property at this time. Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.
Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.
If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call triple zero (000) immediately.
RESIDENTS on the eastern side of Tin Can Bay Rd should shut doors and windows due to a huge amount of smoke from a grass fire burning between Camp Kerr and Tinnanbar.
Rural fire crews are currently on scene, south-west of Tin Can Bay, conducting backburning operations to contain the fire.
The fire currently poses no threat to property but large quantities of smoke may affect residents, who are advised to keep medications close if suffering from a medical condition.
Visibility is reduced, so motorists are advised to drive to conditions.
