THE Australian Federal Police investigation into Peter Slipper's alleged misuse of taxpayer-funded Cabcharge dockets could be wrapped up in two weeks.

AFP Commissioner Tony Negus said investigators were waiting on Mr Slipper's legal team to confirm a date for the sidelined Speaker of the Parliament to be interviewed.

Com Negus said the Sunshine Coast MP had indicated he was prepared to be interviewed.

"We're very close to concluding the inquiry," Com Negus told reporters in Canberra.

When pressed for a timeframe, Comm Negus said he expected the investigation would be finalised in "a couple of weeks".
