Six tips on songwriting inspired by Lady Gaga's new album
WRITING a song doesn't have to be a complex or difficult task, and pop star Lady Gaga has shown her new album Artpop to be a stunning example to the lyrically-impaired everywhere.
Here are six examples showing that you don't need more than a pen, some paper and in some cases, four words, to write a hit track.
Gypsy
I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm a gypsy, gypsy, gypsy I'm
I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm a gypsy, gypsy, gypsy I'm
I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm a gypsy, gypsy, gypsy I'm
I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm a gypsy, gypsy, gypsy I'm
Forget the three-chord song, that's so 1996. Aim instead for the three-word chorus, it's much more catchy.
Songwriting tip: Ending a line of lyrics with a word that doesn't go anywhere gives a distinctly "Yoda" flavour to your song. Easy, this is.

Artpop
We could, we could, belong together (artpop)
We could, we could, belong together (artpop)
We could, we could, belong together (artpop)
ARTPOP, ARTPOP
We could, we could, do with a new songwriter, we could, we could...
Songwriting tip: If you've come up with one great line for a song, why bother thinking of any others? Just repeat ad nauseam until your bank cheques start flowing.

Aura
Do you wanna see me naked, lover?
Do you wanna peek underneath the cover?
Do you wanna see the girl who lives behind the aura, behind the aura?
Do you wanna touch me, cosmic lover?
Do you wanna peek underneath the cover?
Do you wanna see the girl who lives behind the aura?
Behind the aura, behind the aura, behind the aura?
We really don't wanna, wanna, wanna, see you naked Gaga, not even behind your aura, aura, aura.
Songwriting tip: Think of a one-word title for a song and then repeat that word a lot.

Venus
Take me to your planet (to the planet)
Take me to your planet (to the planet)
Take me to your leader (to the planet)
Your leader, Your leader (to the planet)
Take me to your planet (to the planet)
Take me to your planet (to the planet)
Take me to your Venus (to the planet)
Your Venus, Your Venus (to the planet)
UFOs take note, Lady Gaga definitely wants to go to the planet, just in case it wasn't clear the first 12 times.
Songwriting tip: Repeat one line over and over and over, but don't become too predictable. Surprise your audience occasionally by throwing in a line or two that aren't repeats of the previous sentence. Edgy!

G.U.Y.
I wanna be that guy (G.UAnnotate.Y.)
I wanna be that guy (G.U.Y.)
I wanna be that guy (G.U.Y.)
The girl under you (GUY)
No one wants to be that guy, Gaga.
Songwriting tip: Do something really creative, like changing the meaning of a word by making each of its letters stand for something.

Dope
I need you more than dope
Need you more than dope
Need you more than dope
I need you more than dope
Why rhyme different words when you can rhyme the exact same word?
Songwriting tip: Six words, repeat. Perfection.
