A REQUEST for a second coronial inquest into the death of Toowoomba teenager Annette Mason has been officially denied but her family has refused to give up.

Annette's sister Linda Mason has started a petition which requests a meeting with Queensland Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath.

Ms Mason is upset Ms D'Ath didn't meet personally with the family in deciding to deny the inquest.

She says new witnesses and information regarding the case could identify the person or persons responsible for her sister's murder.

>> WHY THE INQUEST WAS DENIED

"A lot of people have contacted Crime Stoppers but have not been contacted since - and I'm not sure how much is being followed up," she said.

"There are people who've spoken to people that have admitted killing Annette."

Annette's partly naked body was found dead in a Toowoomba home on November 19, 1989.

It is believed Miss Mason, 15, was murdered sometime between 5am and 7am before her body was discovered around 2.10pm.

No one has been charged over her death.

Ms Mason wants Ms D'Ath to reverse the decision not to hold a second inquest into the murder.

She vowed to continue the fight for justice regardless of Ms D'Ath's decision.

"We won't give up we're going to keep fighting.

"If we finish all the avenues with the Attorney-General we'll be looking at getting a gold case team put on the case."

The petition was started last night and has already garnered more than 500 signatures.
