Seven charged over drugs in the Finch Hatton area

POLICE executed a number of search warrants relating to possession, supply and production of drugs in the Finch Hatton area yesterday morning.

Finch Hatton police received information from a number of sources which resulted in the warrants being issued.

A total of seven people were charged with 14 offences over 3 days.

Five men were charged with various offences including possession and production of drugs and possesison of drug utensils and are set to attend court on August 6. 

A 38-year-old man will face court on August 4 charged with possession of a drug utensil and a 51-year-old woman was drug diverted.

The operation is ongoing and other targets have been highlighted with further searches likely to be conducted in the future.

Sergeant Lyndsay Judson and Senior Constable James Dolby would like to thank the community for their support in helping to identify people who are using, producing and supplying drugs within the community.

"It is the ongoing effect that the drug trade has that poses the biggest risk to our community," a spokesman said.

"The need for drugs results in other crime such as break and enters and stealing offences. By targeting the drugs we also reduce the other associated crimes."
