SES extinguish blaze on meat truck

A TRUCK carrying a load of meat caught on fire on the Brisbane Valley Highway near Fernvale.

A police spokesman said the truck burst into flames about 7am today.

The spokesman said the fire damaged mainly the front of the truck but the cooling unit at the front of the trailer was also burnt.

He said Queensland Fire and Emergency Services workers extinguished the blaze.

The driver, who wasn't injured, was able to get the truck off the road but it caused the highway to be closed for nearly an hour while the scene was cleared up.
