Seniors Seminar at Gympie RSL

AS PART of the Gympie RSL Sub Branch's contribution to the Seniors Week a seminar has been planned for Wednesday, August 17 from 10am at the Orchid Room.

Dale Jacobsen will set the mood as she tells of her exploits as a 65+ explorer of Antartica as part of a 32 day expedition lead by Australian mountaineer and geologist, Greg Mortimer. Julie Hay will give a talk on assistive technology to seniors who have dexterity and mobility issues and Danielle Upson from An Ongoing Legacy will discuss the new procedure to become an organ donor. One of her team, who is a donor recipient, will also share their experience.

Event co-ordinator, George Wakelin, said the interest An Ongoing Legacy garnered, prompted him to organise the conference.

"It is designed to clarify misunderstandings of the process and how to donate. There is an emphasis on the very low participation rate we have compared to Europe and how Queensland had only 72 donors last year,” he said.

Entry cost is $8.

For inquiries call George on 0402 468 006.
