'Self-medicating' driver loses license

A POMONA man who lost his son in a crash last year has blamed his drink-driving on “self-medication” to mourn the loss of the 15-year-old.

Paul Jones, of Pomona, crashed his car on Cooroy-Noosa Road at Tinbeerwah about midnight on January 16. A blood test recorded his blood alcohol content as 0.226%.

On April 4, Jones was driving drunk on the Pomona-Kin Kin Road about 7.45pm when he crashed into a car. A roadside breath test recorded a BAC of 0.225%.

Jones had his licence disqualified for two years, received a year’s probation and was ordered to undergo a drink drivers program.
