YOU can find treasures all around you, as a Gympie boy discovered almost 40 years ago. The boy found a WWI medal, while walking home to Queen Street from Central State School.
His mum decided to hand the medal (above) into the Gympie RSL Sub Branch on Anzac Day and the Sub Branch is hoping you can help find a relative or descendant living in Gympie who wishes to claim the medal.
Inscribed on the medal is the name Holmes and 52 BTN AIF.
Records show Holmes was 40 years old when enlisted in Dubbo NSW in 1916 and was a carpenter.
