POLICE are searching for a Biloela family of three after they were reported missing Tuesday afternoon.

Matthew Ryan West, 29, Amanda Jade Gehrig, 26, and their six-month-old son travelled from Biloela to Gladstone on Tuesday to visit a friend. It is believed they left the friend’s residence around 1pm with the intention of returning to Biloela.

They were reported missing by concerned family and friends after they failed to return home.

"It is out of character for the couple not to let their family and friends know of their whereabouts," according to a police media statement.

"Police have patrolled the local area, including roads the couple was likely to travel on and locations they may visit, however failed to locate them."

A search will continue today by local police in the Gladstone, Biloela and Calliope areas.

Mr Ryan is described as being Caucaisan, approximately 180cm tall with ginger-coloured hair and beard. Ms Gehrig is described as Caucasian, approximately 172cm tall with black hair and brown eyes.

It is believed family's vehicle is a silver 1996 Daewoo Cielo hatchback with Queensland registration number 121 MRB.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 00.
