Scraps win awards

USING old scraps of metal, timber and whatever else he could find lying around, Gympie model car enthusiast Jim Walsh created three vehicles that took out the top three prizes in the Scratch Built Model of the Model Car section at this year's Gympie Show.

Model car steward Cheryl Patterson said the relatively new section offered some great cash prizes for its winners, and had been meticulously judged by James Nash State High School manual arts teacher Kerry Paige.

Aiden Green won first prize in the Model Kit Only section with his '69 Pontiac.
