Scouts great for adventure
DOES your child like being active? Playing with gadgets? Getting dirty? Going on adventures and facing unusual challenges?
Do you want your child to develop a love of the outdoors, survival skills and learn how to get along with others?
The Scouting experience does all this and more.
Nashville Scout Group - Gympie is inviting all children aged between 6 ½ and 26 years to try out their program at the annual sign on/registration night on Friday, February 1, and Friday, February 8.
Register for a free evening at 7 o'clock, with the program running from 7.15- 9.15.
If you decide to join, a fee of $150 will secure you a yearly registration and the first term's activity fees. A uniform can be bought in the first month and an activity fee of $50 a term is then payable at the beginning of the last three school terms. That's less than $5 a night.
Children are grouped into five different age programs, catering for their differing skill levels and interests.
A group spokeswoman said Nashville Scout Group was a family-based group and encouraged mums and dads to become part of the Scouting experience.
"You might even consider passing on your skills in a more formal capacity by becoming a leader - it's a serious commitment but the rewards are immeasurable," the spokeswoman said.
"If you have a passion for seeing children develop and a love for all things outdoors, come along, find out more and meet the team."
So kids - come and try it out and "be prepared" for some serious fun.
If you can't come on Friday nights, contact the Centenary or Imbil Scout groups which are also in the Gympie Scout District.
