TODAY'S final round matches of the School's Hockey Competition will decide the grand final match-ups for next week.

The pre-season competition has been a huge success, according to Gympie Hockey Association president Ian Wenzel.

He said the competition had boosted the number of girls playing the sport and the association would start a youth girls' competition this season as a result.

Nine primary school and four high schools were involved in the competition.

Wenzel thanked all involved, especially the high school staff that had been very supportive.
