School gets masked in Book Week

A MASKED parade was the highlight of Book Week at Gympie Central State School on Thursday, when hundreds of children showed off their mask-making skills to the rest of the school.

Gympie mask maker Tony Kishawi had been working with Central’s librarian Desley Knox planning the mask parade.

Mr Kishawi said the parade was a huge success, with many different masks made.

The masks were on display at last night’s Gympie Central’s Spring Fete.

The Spring Fete has been celebrated annually for more than 50 years at Gympie Central School.

As well as the fabulous masks, cake decorating, stalls, music, raffles, jumping castles and face painting kept the crowd for students, parents and friends entertained.
