School break blown out

HOLIDAY weather took a turn for the worse yesterday with strong and gusty winds, potentially dangerous surf conditions and local flash flood warnings.

Fortunately conditions seemed to ease as the day progressed, calming fears about high winds and flash flooding, especially in coastal areas.

A handful of beach-goers braved the conditions to have a cautious dip in the tricky surf at Rainbow Beach, one explaining that they "couldn't stay indoors anymore".
