Santa pays Widgee an early visit

THE sirens were sounding and the lights were flashing last Saturday night, letting everyone know that Santa had hitched a ride to the Bushman's Bar in the local fire truck while his reindeer rested in a local Widgee paddock.

The children were all eyes, watching eagerly as Santa alighted from the truck and greeted them all by name, handing out lollies and sweets.

It was a magical night for everyone with presents piled under the tree, delicious Christmas meals, raffles, music and carol singing, camaraderie and fun.

After checking his list of who'd been naughty and nice, Santa made a quick exit on his way to another stopover, singing out "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night".
