Samantha’s a Top Gun at the GWIB Awards

SAMANTHA Bradshaw from Jacaranda Family Dental had a cracker of an evening on Saturday night.

Not only did she pick up the BOQ Queensland Bank of Queensland Business Service Excellence Award, she also received the top award for the night, The Stirling Homes Top Gun Women of Excellence Award.

“I’m very excited. It all feels very surreal, to just be a finalist and then to win my category. Our receptionist Lisa won her category earlier on and I was in tears because I was just so proud,” she said.

Along with her husband Adam, Samantha owns and operates Jacaranda Dental, an all ages dental practice in the Southside Town Centre.

During the day, Samantha works as an oral health therapist and is incredibly proud of everything she, Adam and her team have created within their small business.

“We feel we are personable and accessible. We have beautiful staff and the loveliest of patients, who we feel privileged to take care of,” she said.

Since opening in July 2014, Jacaranda Dental have treated close to 3000 people and Samantha says they genuinely care about each and every one.

“It’s really lovely (to be recognised). We’ve been open for less than two years and it’s been tough,” she said.

Samantha was diagnosed with cancer in September last year, and since then has been battling on two fronts with both the struggle of managing a business and the constant battle with ill-health.

“Dental school gave me the skills to pay the bills but they didn’t however teach me how to run a business or to lead a team,” she said.

“You have to take each day as it comes.”

The recognition was justly deserved and the two new awards will find a home in the surgery, right next to their awards from the Gympie Chamber of Commerce from last year and 2014.
