Sam back but GI, Parker in doubt

SAM Thaiday will return from a shoulder injury to lead the Broncos in the Suncorp Stadium blockbuster against the Rabbitohs on Friday night, but fellow Queensland Origin stars Greg Inglis and Corey Parker remain in doubt.

Parker has not been named in the Broncos line-up, but will be given until match-eve to declare his fitness after suffering a shin cut to the bone in Origin II.

Origin players Petero Civoniceva and Justin Hodges return for the Broncos, with veteran prop Civoniceva to play his 300th NRL game.

Broncos officials said prop Ben Hannant was not in doubt despite him limping off the ground at training yesterday with a thigh strain.

Although the Rabbitohs named Inglis, an elbow ligament injury suffered last weekend might well still prevent the lethal fullback from playing against the club from which he defected during the 2011 pre-season.

Former Queenslanders Justin Hunt, Chris McQueen, Dave Taylor, Michael Crocker, Ben Lowe and Dave Tyrrell will make the trip north with the Rabbitohs for the annual Women in League round kick-off.

After playing at five-eighth for the majority of Monday night's match, Cameron Smith has been officially named in the No.6 jersey for the Storm in their historic match against the Bulldogs in Mackay on Sunday.

The Bulldogs are unchanged, with local Ben Barba expected to pull out all stops in his bid for a first State of Origin jersey.

Despite reports on Monday that Sam Perrett and Anthony Mitchell had been given clearances to leave, the Roosters named both in their team to play the Sea Eagles on Sunday.

The Roosters are unchanged from the side that last week ended the Tigers' seven-game winning streak.

State of Origin reject Jamie Buhrer is the new Manly lock. He covers for Glenn Stewart, who may be sidelined for up to a month with knee-ligament damage.

The return from suspension of centre Steve Matai means the Roosters most recent signing, Michael Oldfield, will not line up against his new club.
