Sailability farewells volunteer

SAILABILITY Tin Can Bay has bid a touching farewell to foundation secretary Bobbie Scott.

Bobbie and her husband Rodney have sold their house in Tin Can Bay and are preparing to move to Brisbane to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Sailability Tin Can Bay president Barry Ryan used the club’s latest newsletter to make the announcement and pay tribute to Bobbie’s involvement in the community organisation, offering disabled people the chance to gain confidence in sailing.

“As foundation secretary, Bobbie was pivotal in establishing and contributing towards the success of Sailability Tin Can Bay,” he said.

“She worked tirelessly behind the scenes, organising the mountains of correspondence associated with the everyday activities of the organisation, especially during our set up period.”

Bobbie was enthusiastic about her work and was instrumental in allowing Sailability Tin Can Bay to secure a number of funding grants.

“Her networking skills among major disability organisations, district schools and individual clients have established high benchmarks which have enabled us to enjoy sustainable partnerships with these organisations,” Barry said.

Bobbie was also very handy when it came to operating a computer, using her skills to produce the organisation’s monthly newsletter.

Organisation and Bobbie went hand-in-hand, and the tireless volunteer excelled earlier this year when she coordinated the inaugural Conference of Sailability Queensland at Tin Can Bay.

“On behalf of Sailability Tin Can Bay, our many thanks, Bobbie,” Barry said.
