GYMPIE is gripped by Wiggles mania with demand for an August performance pushing an online booking system to its limit and prompting promoters to schedule a second show.

The Wiggles are coming to Gympie on Wednesday, August 24 with their Wiggles Town Tour.

Tickets to a 10am show at the Gympie Heritage Theatre went on sale Monday.

The rush from parents desperate to was so frenetic the Gympie Box Office online ticketing system came close to crashing.

Tickets to the 10am show disappeared in no time and yesterday Gympie Box Office owner and creator Tony Kishawi was excited Wiggles organisers responded with a second show.

"Beacuse of the sell-out of the 10am show, the promoters have decided to open a second session starting at 12.30pm," he said.

Parents who missed out on the first show need to get a wiggle on this morning when tickets again go on sale.

"It's good to see that The Wiggles are still drawing an audience," Mr Kishawi said.

"They are celebrating their 25th year and it's also good to see the Heritage Theatre is on the rader as an inclusion in their tour along the Queensland east coast."

Mr Kishawi said he felt the introduction of an online booking system was encouraging more events to stop in Gympie.

"I like to think... touring companies feel confident that their shows are goign to have bum on seats," he said.

The Wiggles' new tour is visiting more than 100 locations Australia-wide and builds on last year's tour, selling out more than 200 shows and performing to more than a quarter of a millions fans worldwide.
