Rugby league player charged over domestic violence

HIGH-profile rugby league player Shaun Kenny-Dowell has been charged with a string of assault and domestic violence-related offences against his former partner.

Kenny-Dowall, 28, was charged at the weekend with 10 offences including six of common assault, one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and damaging property.

It is alleged the offences occurred between October last year and June this year.

His former partner, Jessica Peris, who is the daughter of Olympic hockey gold medallist and federal Senator Nova Peris, made the complaint to police last week after their relationship broke down three weeks ago.

Kenny-Dowell, who plays for the Sydney Roosters, was granted bail and is due to appear this Thursday in Waverley Local Court.
