Top shot makes mouths water
IT'S not every day you make Jamie Oliver's mouth water with your photography skills.
But that's just what Mt Coolum's Roslyn McLaughlin did when she was announced as one of the winners of the My Nikon Life assignment Food Glorious Food.
Ms McLaughlin, who runs Eagleye Images & Design, had her photograph and review of a Mango Pork from Yandina's Spirit House judged by a panel of food and photography experts, including top UK chef Oliver.
The celebrity chef's comment was, "I love the way this shot is vibrant and makes you want to get stuck into the food."
Ms McLaughlin said it made her day.
"I was ecstatic for him to be one of the judges and to have him comment on it as well," she said.
Food Glorious Food was one of the longest running assignments on the website, challenging photographers to tell a mouth-watering story about a great experience in pictures and words.
Ms McLaughlin chose the Spirit House on advice of her partner.
"I had never been there before but when I said I wanted to do food photography it was suggested to me."
She said she would love to photograph food for magazines and local food festivals but her ultimate goal would be to assist on a cookbook.
Spirit House restaurant and cooking school director Helen Brierty said Oliver's comments were a compliment to Ms McLaughlin, the restaurant and the chefs.
Her review and photo have been printed in the current edition of My Nikon Life Magazine.
