Rojas helps Victory reignite with big win over Newcastle

THE Melbourne Victory got its A-League championship hopes well and truly back in order with a rousing 5-0 win over the Jets at AAMI Park yesterday.

Marco Rojas recaptured his dazzling form which has eluded him in recent weeks, with a double, while Mark Milligan also scored twice from penalties.

Rojas also delivered a well-taken corner for Adrian Leijer to head home in the 15th minute.

Just as important was Archie Thompson's strong showing - he had heavy involvement all day in his return from a hamstring injury.

While the Victory was magnificent, the Jets were terrible, particularly at the back of the park, in a day to forget for defender Taylor Regan.

Leijer easily nudged him out of the way to score.

And he brought down Thompson in the 30th minute, inside the penalty area, for Milligan to score his first and make it 3-0.

Regan conceded another penalty in the 56th minute, dragging Daniel Mullen off the ball and picking up his second yellow card, before Milligan scored his second.

Rojas then showed incredible footwork after a classy turn to score his second in the 66th minute.
