Roar and fire ready to burn

BRISBANE Roar official Bruce Stadler inspected Football Gympie’s facilities yesterday afternoon and gave them a big thumbs up ahead of a friendly match between the Roar and Sunshine Coast Fire next month.

The friendly fixture will be played at the One Mile Ovals on Wednesday, June 30 as part of the Brisbane Roar’s pre-season preparations.

Stadler said he was excited the Brisbane Roar would continue to involve Gympie in its pre-season tour.

“We’re happy to be returning and this is looking like it will become an annual event,” he said.

“The team is proud to represent Brisbane and bring the game to fans in regional areas.”

Stadler was full of praise for Football Gympie’s facilities, including the newly renovated Field 1.

“Since its renovation, the Gympie pitch is one of the best pitches we will play on during our pre-season,” Stadler said.

A warm-up to the big game between the Roar and Fire will be an autograph session at 5.15pm with kick-off to follow at 7.15pm.

The Brisbane Roar Rapid Fire Field will also be in action, giving players a chance to test their skills and emulate the heroics of their football idols.

With a new coach and fresh-faced players, the Roar will be eager to topple the Sunshine Coast Fire and have built plenty of winning momentum.
