Road works to help drivers
MOTORISTS and their passengers will soon enjoy a smoother ride on several major roads to Gympie's south.
Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace yesterday announced that more than 50km of road is to be resealed over the next six months, an improvement which would also reduce routine maintenance costs.
Roads included in the $2 million program of upgrades include Kin Kin Rd, Cooroy Connection Rd, Eumundi-Kenilworth Rd, Kenilworth-Skyring Creek Rd and Maleny-Kenilworth Rd.
Mr Wallace said his Transport and Main Roads Department estimates the projects will all be complete by early next year.
It will involve more than 50km of road resealing, he said.
"The projects have been funded from the Transport and Main Roads' Annual Resealing program," he said.
Further to the south, mostly in areas covered by the Somerset and Moreton Bay regional councils, other roads to be upgraded as part of this year's program include major regional arteries such as the Brisbane Valley Hwy, Wivenhoe-Somerset Rd, Forest Hill-Fernvale Rd, Caboolture-Beachmere Rd and Palmwoods-Mooloolah Rd, Mr Wallace said yesterday.
