Road closures for Race the Rattler

MARY Valley Heritage Railway general manager Jim Walker is appealing to motorists to be patient with road closures during next Monday’s 2010 Race the Rattler.

Walker said road closures would be in place to ensure the safety of the race’s competitors.

Road closures include the following:

  • Mary Valley Highway between Meddleton Road and Butler Road from 9.25am to 10.15am
  • Jones Hill (Corbet Road) and Bruce Highway at Normanby Bridge between 10am to 12pm
  • Hughes Terrace, Mount Pleasant Road, Crown Road, Apollonian Vale, Lady Mary Terrace and Mellor Street from 10am to 12pm.

Walker thanked SES workers in advance for their efforts on the day acting as traffic controllers at various intersections.

“The contribution from SES volunteers is critical to the success of the event,” he said.

“We ask Gympie locals to make their job as pleasant as possible by obeying any direction that might be given.”

Race entries close last mail today. Phone (07) 5482 2750 or visit www.thevalleyrattler.com for additional details.
