Club ready for Gymkhana, Campdraft

GYMPIE Pony Club organisers are in a frenzy adding the final preparations ahead of their annual Gymkhana and Campdraft this weekend.

The popular event will be held at the club's grounds in Jane Street.

Saturday will be the campdraft and Sunday the gymkhana.

Gympie Pony Club spokesperson Michelle Winston said both events would allow competitors an opportunity to showcase their skills.

“The campdraft will show skills in cow work and the gymkhana involves events in sporting, jumping and rider classes,” she said.

Both days of competition will commence about 8.30am, while spectators cramming the stands will have access to the canteen to keep up their strength. Entry is free on both days.

Winston said members of the Gympie club had been practising hard in the weeks leading up to the big weekend.

“Gympie Pony Club members have been practising their events at rally days leading up to the gymkhana and hope to put in a good showing,” she said.

“The club has very strong numbers this year and is hoping the pink and green (club colours) stand out on the day.”

Anyone wanting additional information about the event this weekend or the Gympie Pony Club in general can contact Michelle Winston on 0417 073 358.
