SATURDAY’S weekly fixtures saw Wilson defeat Kennex with a commanding scoreline.

Wilson won 9 sets, 59 games to Kennex with 3 sets, 42 games. John and Ron won all their sets.

Players needed for Saturday include Trevor, Geoff, Betty, Cathy, Ada, Bill, Kent, Ailsa, Beryl and Val.

Players need to find a replacement or contact Jenny (5482 7268) should they be unable to play.

Sunshine Coast fixtures on July 25 resulted in wins for Gympie Gold and Gympie Bronze, in addition to a close loss for Gympie Red.

Positions of the teams in the competition (with three matches to go) are as follows:

  •  Gympie Gold first in Division 1
  •  Gympie Bronze second in Division 3
  •  Gympie Red third in Division 4

Meanwhile, last Sunday 12 pairs participated in the club’s President’s Cup competition.

Winners were Warren Arnell (Gympie) and Susan Rheinberger (Sunshine Coast), overcoming Steve Banney (Gympie) and Elena Scott (Gympie) in a close final, 6-4.

A great day was had by all and the club thanks Greg and Nancy Hampson for donating the winners’ trophies and Ken Brown for donating the inaugural President Cup.

Tonight is the last night for sign-on for Thursday night fixtures at Queens Park Tennis Courts at 6.30pm.

Interested players who cannot attend and would like to play Thursday night fixtures can contact Warren Arnell on 0418 715 148. New players are welcome.

Thursday night fixtures start next week, August 12 at 6.30pm. Teams and draws will be published in The Gympie Times next Thursday.

Social tennis is on every Monday night from 6pm. All standards are welcome.
